About

A little store that kept growing

We started as one small room in 2009. The Ole Country Store you walk into now went up in 2014 due to growing support from our community. Still run by the same family, still the same values, still your local country store.

The store is Mennonite-owned, and we value the quality that Mennonites and small local vendors are known for. Most of the bulk food comes out of Lancaster County, PA, and any baked goods we don't make here in our kitchen come from Amish and Mennonite bakeries in Lancaster, PA, or Holmes County, OH. The beef and pork we serve and sell are local and the milk comes from a couple hours away. The outdoor furniture is made just over the mountains, and the soaps and lotions you find in the housewares section are local too!

How we got here

  1. 2009

A bakery case and a few shelves

We opened in a small space with a little bakery, a deli counter, and a handful of bulk food items. It was modest, and it turned out there was a lot more demand for it than we expected.

    Building something bigger

Having outgrown the original space, we put up a custom building designed to better serve our customers with a bigger deli, more room in the back for baking and packaging, and wide aisles for the bulk food.

    Opening the doors

Neighbors, family, and customers from the old store turned out for the ribbon cutting. Although some things have changed (hello, lunch specials and The Country Creamery!), the deli, bakery, and shelves filled with delicious goodies were here from day one. A lot of the faces we saw that day still come through our doors regularly.

What matters to us

Quality

If we wouldn't eat it, we won't sell it. That's a big reason why we source from local vendors and Mennonite and Amish businesses known for delicious products.

Community

We believe good business is about more than just what you sell; it's about how you treat people. That's why we strive to foster an atmosphere where you feel genuinely welcomed, valued, and cared for.

Integrity

We try our hardest to do everything right the first time, from baking a cake to building a sandwich to stocking a shelf. If something is wrong, though, we do our best to make it right.

Hospitality

Come on in, wander around, and find some new favorites, then sit on a rocker out front and rest awhile.
